Papaya Dal Curry


Ingredients :


Raw Papaya – 1/4 Kg

Channa Dal (Kada Parupu) – 2 table spoon (Chana dal is produced by removing the outer layer of black chickpeas and then splitting the kernel)

Salt As per Taste

For Grinding:

Coconut – Grated  2 table spoon

Turmeric Powder – ¼ table spoon

Chilly Powder – ½ table spoon

Jeera – 1/2 table spoon

Garlic – 2 to 3 cloves

For Seasoning:

Mustard Seeds  – ¼ table spoon

Dry red Chilly – 1 number

Curry leaves  – 1 Sprig

Coconut oil  – 2 table spoon


Preparation :


1. Soak Channa Dal for 15 min.

2. Peel and Clean the Raw Papaya and Cut it into medium size cubes

3. Cook the Channa Dal in water. When it is half done add the Papaya pieces and cook till papaya is cooked and tender.

4. Grind the ingredients listed for grinding in a mixer with some water.

5. Add the paste to the dal and Papaya mix and cook for some more time.

6. Make the seasoning by heating oil and spluttering Mustard seeds. Add Dry red chili and Curry leaves to the oil and fry.

7. Pour the seasoning over the Papaya curry and mix well.
