Small onion theeyal a favorite spicy curry, often had along with tapioca.
Small Onion Theeyal
Grated Coconut grounded fine without water
Tamarind – small ball size
Dried red chilly – 10 number
Whole coriander dried seeds – 1 teaspoon
Small onions – 1 cup ( cut it into 4 pieces)
small onions whole – 10 numbers
curry leaves,coriander leaves – as per wish
Salt – as per requirement
Oil – 3 table spoon
Mustard seeds – 1 pinch
Dried red chilly – 3 made into 6 pieces
Fry 10 small onions in oil (slice thinly), dried chilly, coriander, curry leaves,coconut paste till it become golden brown. Make a paste out of it without adding much water before the mixture cools. Take three table spoon oil and temper with mustard seeds, add the dried red chilly, curry leaves and small onions which was made into 4 pieces and sauté them well. Add tamarind extract to this. Add the coconut-onion paste in this after 3 minutes and allow it to boil for some time. Add Coriander leaves after it is done. You could also add drumsticks too.
